Wood Recycling

Navigating Your Way through the Forest of Wood Recycling

Do you feel like you’ve started the New Year on the right path, clear of all bumps and stumps along the way?

Or, are there a couple big logs, literally, looming in your lane? If you haven’t already done so, you need to navigate your way through the forest of wood recycling and make 2016 a clear horizon so you can see the other, more pressing challenges of 2016 head-on!

christmas tree recyclingWhile it seems crazy to think so, many of you have to begin by clearing out your homes interior jungles before conquering the much larger ones on the exterior. I’m talking about the dry, dying Christmas trees that many of you still shelter in dimly-lit corners of your homes where once they shone brightly, arrayed with colorful strings of lights and precious family heirlooms. After fulfilling their holly, jolly duties, your trees’ only request are to be disposed of graciously and “greenly,” if possible. Many of you are not sure how to make that happen. Here are few places that offer Christmas tree recycling. So don’t be naughty, do the nice thing and head to one of these near-by locations:

  • The City of Centennial: Arapahoe Park & Rec District and South Suburban Parks & Rec District

Through January 17 they are providing residents with an opportunity to appropriately and safely dispose of Christmas trees. You can dispose of real, clean, non-ornamented, non-decorated Christmas trees at:

  • City of Centennial & Arapahoe Park & Rec. District (east side of the City)

Lookout Park, 5455 S Riviera Way
Piney Creek Hollow Park, 6140 S Tower Rd

It is anticipated free mulch will be available for private use at both locations (Lookout Park & Piney Creek Hollow Park) starting Dec 28 and every other day after that, excluding holidays, weekends and snow events.

  • South Suburban Parks & Rec. District (west side of the City)

Willow Spring Service Center, 7100 S Holly St, in the designated enclosure by the front gate.

Once the jingle and jungle of Christmas past has truly passed [through the open arms of the above city chippers], head outside to hone out those hedges that need trimming, those branches that are dipping, and those fences that are giving.  Then, head to one of these near-by locations for proper disposal:

  • Oxford Recycling

    2400 W Oxford Ave, Englewood, CO 80110

Offering tree branch and fencing disposal.

  • Mountain States Wood Recycling

    2300 W Radcliff Ave, Englewood, CO 80110

Offering wood, tree branch, and fencing disposal.

In closing, would you really like wood to keep you from achieving your best, brightest, clearest, and clutter-free 2016?  We think not.  In fact, this is not a stumper at all — we think you’ll be a lot chipper from following our advice!
